In Luke 17, Jesus describes what happens to those who lead people into sin. Who are these verses directed to? In addition, this passage addresses finding another believer in (habitual) sin. Is the focus of these verses on the sinning believer or on our own reaction to their sin? Luke 17:3 says we are to rebuke the sinner, yet the word rebuke means to strike back. Digging into the Greek word translated as rebuke reveals a very different meaning. Moving on, how many times do we forgive our brother? Does forgiving someone mean tolerating abuse?
