After the ark returned to Israel from the Philistines, the Israelites returned to the LORD for twenty years, and put away their foreign gods. Eventually, though, Israel rejected the LORD and demanded a king just like all the other nations had. God, in the Law of Moses, had foreseen this rejection of Him and outlined the consequences of their choice. Despite His warning (through the prophet Samuel), Israel didn’t relent so God gave them what they wanted. What can we learn from their behavior? What does this lesson have to do with Jesus? Is there any evidence that Samuel could be a type of Jesus?
