Hezekiah was probably Israel’s most obediant king and led an amazing revival during his reign. During this time, however, people were worshiping the bronze snake made by Moses so Hezekiah broke it into many pieces. When he did this, he said, “Nehushtan!” Many people believe Hezekiah was saying, “This isn’t God. You are worshiping a piece of brass!” Why was this so offensive to Hezekiah? More importantly, why was this offensive to God? In this lesson, Dr. Bramson teaches about the the brass serpent on a pole. Did God expect Israel to understand the meaning of this? (Jesus sure expected Nicodemus to.) What does this story tell us about Jesus?
